Connecting Communities Through Mobility
Every day, from coast to coast, older Americans are stranded without transportation—and every day, the answer to their needs is parked in driveways across the country. America’s Volunteer Driver Center (AVDC) is ITNAmerica’s common-sense solution to bring these two together: the people who need a ride, and the people who would be happy to provide it.
AVDC’s national public information campaign will raise awareness and direct potential volunteers to the AVDC website, where they’ll be introduced to transportation providers in their area. The campaign aims to recruit more than 150,000 volunteer drivers over three years, creating a stronger foundation for community-based transportation across the country.

AVDC was developed with technical support from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). AVDC’s Leadership Roundtable and Advisory Council bring together experts from business, philanthropy, government, and the nonprofit sector to guide the initiative with strategic insights and cross-sector collaboration.
AVDC aspires to change the way Americans think about and support transportation for older adults. Just as the Red Cross became the national voice for blood donation, AVDC is building a national movement to recruit volunteer drivers.
