Planned Gifts

Consider ITN as a beneficiary in your will, trust, or life insurance policy.

Gifts by Bequest or Trust

Naming ITN in your will or trust is one of the simplest and most lasting ways to create or continue your legacy. Your legacy will make a difference in the lives of individuals and families for generations to come.

Your attorney can include a provision in your will or trust that provides for a gift to ITN. This can be done when you make or amend a will or trust, or, in many cases, a codicil for this purpose can be prepared without rewriting your plans. You may designate a portion to a local affiliate of your choice or for specific ITN programs. The following legal designation should be used:

ITNAmerica, a Maine non-profit corporation with offices at One Westbrook Common, Suite 3, Westbrook, ME. 04092 with tax identification number of 20--0960314.

If you would like to designate all or a portion of your bequest to your local ITN affiliate, please contact us for the appropriate tax identification number.

There are different ways to make a bequest gift. You can name us to receive a specific gift, for example "I bequeath the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000)", or, you can state a percentage of your estate such as "I bequeath 10% (ten percent) of my estate". You can also name us to receive the residual of your estate after specific gifts are distributed to others and all expenses of the estate are paid.

Gifts through your will or trust offer many advantages. There is no limit on the federal estate tax deduction for gifts through your will. Your assets remain in your control during your lifetime. You can change your mind if circumstances change. There is zero cost to you today in making this commitment and the charitable estate tax deduction will reduce your estate taxes on non-charitable bequests.

Most importantly, a bequest provides you with the assurance of knowing how your assets will be used after your lifetime. Your gift will support our programs in the future just as you are supporting our programs today.

Please contact us at (207) 857-9001 for more information. Also please consult with your own advisor as we cannot provide legal or tax advice. All inquiries are kept in the strictest confidence. We would be honored to assist you in planning your legacy.

If you have already included ITN in your estate plans, please let us know. We would like to honor and recognize your generosity.

Gifts of Retirement Assets

Retirement assets are among the most heavily taxed assets after your death. Naming ITN as a beneficiary of all or part of your retirement plan not only supports our work, it can also be tax effective. Since ITN pays no tax on such assets and your heirs will, you may wish to consider leaving other assets to your heirs and to use these assets for your charitable giving.

If you decide to leave retirement assets to ITN, be sure to do so using your plan's beneficiary form rather than your will so the assets will not be included in your estate. You may designate a portion to a local affiliate of your choice or for specific ITN programs. Please use the following designation on your beneficiary form:

ITNAmerica, a Maine non-profit corporation with offices at One Westbrook Common, Suite 3, Westbrook, ME. 04092 with tax identification number of 20—0960314.

Gifts through your retirement plan offer other advantages, too. Your assets remain in your control during your lifetime. You can change your mind if circumstances change. There is no cost to you in making this commitment.

A gift of retirement plan assets provides you with the assurance of knowing how your assets will be used after your lifetime. Your gift will support our programs in the future just as you are supporting our programs today. Your legacy will make a difference in the lives of individuals and families for generations to come.

For certain individuals it may be possible to make a lifetime gift of retirement plan assets. In any case, it is important that you discuss gifts of retirement plan assets with your own advisor.

Please contact ITNAmerica's Development Department at (207) 857-9001 or email donate@ITNAmerica.org for more information. Also, please consult with your own advisor as we cannot provide legal or tax advice. All inquiries are kept in the strictest confidence. We would be honored to assist you in planning your legacy. If you have already included ITN in your plans, please let us know. We would like to honor and recognize your generosity.

Other Beneficiary Designation Gifts, such as Life Insurance

In addition to gifts of retirement plan assets, you can also name ITN as a beneficiary of your life insurance plan or even as a contingent beneficiary in case your primary beneficiary does not survive you. As a nonprofit organization, ITN will not pay taxes on this gift and the full amount will be put to work supporting our programs. Please use the same designation language as above. Thank you for your interest in our work.
